Every kitchen, closet, mud room and pantry Stonecreek builds starts as a drawing somebody can hold. That is this role. You sit with the client, find out how they live, and turn it into elevations and specifications the shop can build and the install crew can set, without a question coming back from the bench.
The work
- Client discovery: the room measured, the household understood, what has to live in the space counted before anything is drawn
- Concepts and selections: layouts, door styles, finishes, hardware and materials, presented so a client can decide
- Drawings and specifications: full elevations, every opening dimensioned, the cut-ready detail the shop and the router work from
- Feasibility with operations: check what you draw against what the shop can build, the materials we stock and the lead times we can hold
- Revisions and approvals: carry the design through the client’s changes to a signed-off package
- Handoff to production and installation: a complete, documented package the fabricators, finishers and installers can work from without you in the room
What you need
- Interior design experience, residential or commercial
- CAD or cabinet-design software, and the discipline to draw to the sixteenth
- Strong client communication: you can lead a decision without pushing one
- An understanding of constructability and materials: what a sheet of plywood, a laminate panel or a solid door will and will not do
Helps, not required
- Time in a cabinet shop or on an install crew
- Experience with cabinet software such as Mozaik, or with nesting for a CNC router
How we hire
A conversation about how you design, from the first client meeting to the approved package. Then a look at a set of your drawings together, and a walk through the shop so you can see where they end up.
Reporting
The Operations Lead, Millwork & Interiors.
What the job comes with
The same for every role.
Pay
Hourly or salaried, and each posting says which. Hourly roles get overtime after forty hours. The starting range is on each posting, and where you start in it depends on what you can actually do. Pay is reviewed once a year.
Retirement
A 401(k) with a three percent company match. It starts the first of the month after your first ninety days, for anyone regularly scheduled forty hours a week.
Paid holidays
Six, from your first day: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Vacation and sick leave
Up to 40 hours of paid vacation in your first year, one workweek, accruing each pay period and usable after ninety days. It grows by eight hours after each year you complete, to 80 hours. Up to 40 hours carries forward into the next year; unused vacation is not paid out when you leave. Paid sick leave is its own bank: an hour for every thirty you work, up to 40 hours a year, carried forward on its own. All told, up to three weeks a year, two of vacation at the top of the scale and one of sick leave, plus the six holidays.
Health
We do not offer a company medical, dental or vision plan today. We would rather tell you that on the job posting than have you find it out after you take the job.
Tools and apparel
Shop tools, safety gear and job-specific equipment are ours. Standard work apparel is company-paid, by role.
This role is part-time or contract, and that changes the terms above. They are the employee package, and the 401(k) match is for anyone regularly scheduled forty hours a week, which a part-time schedule below that does not reach. A contract engagement is a rate and nothing else. We settle which it is, and the hours, on the first call.
Reviews are at thirty, sixty and ninety days when you start, then quarterly.
How we hire
A call, a few hours of real work, an answer.
A phone call first, fifteen minutes, about the work and where in the pay range you would start. Then a couple of hours with the team doing something close to the real work. Then an offer or an honest no, within a week either way.
No panel interviews, no personality tests.
